The event, formerly known as Silver Infocomm Day, began humbly as a one-day event in 2007, and was attended by about 360 participants. Today, the event spans over a week and saw a participation of over 5,000 attendees in 2014. The event is rebranded in 2015 as “Silver IT Fest”, to better reflect the enhanced scale, activities and popularity of the event. Each year, the Silver IT Fest is held across various institutes of higher learning (polytechnics and ITEs),bringing convenience to seniors all over the island.
Continuing the popularity of the past year Silver Infocomm Day, IDA has renamed this event to a more appropriate name, Silver IT Fest, an IT Festival for the elderly which still focuses on raising awareness of infocomm through informing and educating the senior citizens and to increase adoption of infocomm usage through workshops and trainings. Participants can choose from an array of IT related classes in 4 different languages to suite them. Free Seminars and a fun filled hands-on exhibitions is also available for eager learners.
